Cyclists want action after one of their own is killed

Local cyclists are taking action after a fellow bicyclist was killed earlier this month. Chips Cronen was riding his bike on the Second Street Bridge on July 3rd when he was hit by a van.

The driver, who has not been charged, says he did not see the man. Tuesday, fellow cyclists brought letters to the commonwealth's attorney, the mayor, and the police chief. They want felony charges filed against the driver.

Bicyclist Jackie Green explains, "Their role at this point is simply to wait until the police have finished their investigation. That investigation is ongoing and my understanding is that it is being pursued very thoroughly."

Bicyclists are also planning a memorial ride for Cronen on August 12th.
