The Democratic field for next year's governor's race is still wide open with no big-name candidates. And the only Republican running against Ernie Fletcher, despite GOP concerns he cannot be re-elected, is a little-known Western Kentucky businessman. But the field for the 2010 Louisville mayor's race is already beginning to fill out. Jackie Green, owner of Bike Couriers & Bike Couriers Bike Shop, said he plans to run as an independent on an environment-friendly platform. Green claims that Louisville's leaders in past decades have focused too much on building roads and not enough on alternative transportation, including walking, bicycling and mass transit.
