In 2004 the ill-directioned Big Four Bridge Project was, thankfully, delayed.

"...officials in Southern Indiana say they could be a year away from a formal review of the project...Mayor Rob Waiz of Jeffersonville, Ind., said that a study of the matter probably wouldn't begin until late this year or early next year....Options for access include a ramp or a staircase and elevator."
Courier-Journal, 24 March 2004 - "Indiana lagging on Big Four Bridge plan"

We lobbied for a ramp on the Indiana side of the Big Four Bridge (dubbing the elevator "The Indiana Pisser") and encouraged the project managers to move quickly in making the Big Four Bridge bicycle-friendly. "Quickly" never happened, but as of May 2009 we have:
- assurances that the Big 4 Bridge will be bicycle friendly with ramps at both ends
- funding ($3 million) for the KY ramp secured
- funding ($10 million) for the deck rehab committed
- design firm for the IN ramp hired
Lacking yet is a committment for the funding ($3 million) for the IN ramp.
